Leisure Audio is working for me as I write!

I recently became a member of Leisure Audiobooks, and I want to share my humble opinion with you today.

This is like nothing I have ever experienced before, I was shocked to find that is totally unique, never seen before, and I believe it to be revolutionary, and I'll explain why.

In my past experience, you join a typical program, they give you some cheesy promo tools, and they never say a word to you, they just expect you to go out and recruit as best you can on your own...

This is totally and utterly different.

First of all, the products rock, there's a huge selection of topics on virtually any niche you can think of... all delivered in licensed .wma or Real format, so anyone with a computer, an iPod, or mp3 player can instantly enjoy these fine audio books, at their leisure. I don't know about you but find the time to sit and read has become rather difficult. What a blessing, now I can download, listen at my leisure while doing other things.

Second, you don't have to recruit, to earn nice money, you can simply sell these real products to real people, and they will be glad to have them to listen to. You see this is not just an online business, but a real business that can be marketed off line to anyone that would like to have this unique freedom to listen to a good book without having to stop everything and read.

Third, the commissions you can earn, are much higher than normal, and I really like that.

Fourth, it's so easy to set up a website and dominate any niche you choose, because the training is so good, it makes it easy to get started right away. I have literally never seen any Website with more training information and available resources for your use. Anything and everything you could possibly need has been provided.

Fifth, I don't have any of the order filling problems, of offering a real product, Leisure Audiobooks, has it handled, for me. Lucky me;~) This system was well planned, well thought out and from my understanding took years to complete.

Do You Really Want Success on the Internet?

One of the questions I get most often is how and what is the best way to advertise on the Internet?

It has been proven many times over that when using a traffic exchange or other sites that require a fast loading, get to the point type web page, splash pages have proven to be very effective.

So what if you don't have the knowledge or expertise to create your own splash page? Perhaps you don't even have your own Website, and/or if you do, still not sure how to add these type pages to advertise your business?

3 Little Known Tips that Effect the Uniqueness of Your Traffic

Did you know the uniqueness of your traffic can have a direct effect on the amount of sales or sign ups you receive while advertising online especially in the Traffic Exchanges?

Did you know there are times you want unique traffic and other times you don't?

First off, let me explain what unique traffic is and why you need to know about it. Unique traffic (when referring to the traffic exchanges) means that the same person doesn't see your site within the same 24 hour time period.

This is very important when using the traffic exchanges because in most cases the traffic is not 100% unique. The over all average is around 60 - 70% uniqueness per traffic exchange. You'll tend to find the larger and more active exchanges to give the best unique traffic because more people are surfing those exchanges more 0ften... It makes sense, doesn't it?

A lower uniqueness means that the same person will see your site over and over again which isn't exactly what you want...or is it?

Yes, there are times when you want the same person seeing the same sites over and over again. We call this Saturation and it is desired when you have a new program or product you want to advertise as quickly as possible.

It's been a couple of years since we put together a Saturation campaign. It's best achieved when you can get a large group of people together to promote the same program or product.

Each member of the group receives a specific schedule on where to advertise and how. When each member of the group would advertise the same program or product in one place we would Saturate that exchange and the results we received were higher... much higher!

In other words, we would flood specific exchanges with the same program and when the members saw that program come up over and over again... they couldn't help it... they wanted to see what all the fuss was about and most of the time they would join the program or buy the product just to see what got so popular all of a sudden.

In this example you wouldn't really care if the traffic is unique. You want the same person to see the same sites over and over again until they join or buy (in most cases we would run a Saturation campaign for a week, or until everyone's traffic they purchased ran out).

Another reason why you would want a lower unique ratting is because of (TEBA) Traffic Exchange Brand Awareness (a new coined phrase that Jon Olson has been preaching a lot). This is where you focus to Brand you and your programs and in this case you want to be seen as often as you can.

So, why would someone want to have unique traffic?

Well, in the same way you want some people to see your site over and over again, there are other times you only want the same person to see your site once a day.

Here are some of the reasons why you would want unique traffic:

You want to reach as many people with your message as you can and you don't care if they see it more than once per day.

You don't use a tracker and you want to tell how many unique page views it takes to generate a sale or sign up.

You've done such a good job of promotion that most people have joined your program and you're looking for new unique visitors.

Want to know how to increase the uniqueness of your traffic? Here's how you can do it...

1. Only add the same URL once.

Most traffic exchange programs will send you more traffic when you add more than one URL to advertise in their exchange. If you add the same URL more than once, the
uniqueness of your traffic will go down.

2. Join ad Co-ops

This is a great way to test your Conversation Rates for a website because most traffic Co-ops will give you close to 100% unique traffic. This is because they have hundreds of members in their co-op and they advertise in multiple exchanges... it's extremely hard for the same person to see the same site more than once.

3. Use a Rotator

This is my favorite because you can advertise more than one program and get 100% unique traffic flow at the same time. Not to mention... you can squeeze the highest amount of traffic out of each exchange (by adding your rotator link as many times as they let you) while getting that high unique traffic you want.

How to test for unique traffic:

First, you need a tracking program so that you can add one tracking link into your rotator and by looking at the uniqueness of traffic to that one URL. If you know how
unique that one URL is in your rotator, you'll also know what the other URLs in your rotator are receiving as well (as long as they're all on the same priority settings in your rotator).

Then you can add or take away URLs in your rotator to increase or decrease the uniqueness of your traffic in the exchanges.

In Conclusion:

Just like with any trick, tip, or tool you use in your marketing if you don't test it, it's like throwing darts in the dark... you'll never know for sure how effective
it was... until you turn the lights on. :o)

Personally, I like both options unique traffic and not so unique traffic. I like to get my web pages in front of as many new people as often as I can, but don't mind the
same people seeing it more than once too. This helps when you're and owner of a program with an affiliate option... it gets your affiliates to login and get active.

Okay, now that you know how to get unique traffic and why it can benefit you to do so... go try it for yourself.

20 Inches of Snow in San Antonio?

I know it doesn't have much to do with Internet Marketing but at least it's funny.

While some may consider traffic exchanges as time consuming, you will absolutely be surprised to know that most of my online business comes from those resources. Traffic exchange advertising is so darn cheap and even free if you choose that direction, plus as of this writing, it creates approx 3-5k hits per day to my varied sites. All it takes is a little surfing time and persistance.

What to do on a Bad Weather Day?

Today's weather where I live here in San Antonio, TX is somewhat odd and extremely unusual for us warm weather dwellers..lol The temperature is around 30 degrees, sleeting, threat of snow and freezing rain. Now some of you in other parts of the world might find this somewhat normal for this time of year, but for us it shuts down everything. Roads are slick with ice, businesses, schools, and government offices are closed because of road closures and hazardous conditions.

This probably sounds rather odd for some of you, but we just do not know how to survive when the weather conditions reach this extreme. For instance 2 days ago, we had a low of 52 degrees at night and reached our normal daytime temperature of 72. This is actually more normal this time of year in this part of the country. Anyway, didn't feel comfortable doing anything outside today, much more comfy inside where it's warm. Kind of like the kids though, if it's going to be this cold, might as well see some snow. That would be a real novelty for us since the last time it snowed in San Antonio was 1985.... Will take photos and post later if it does snow...lol

With auto wrecks on the highways, emergency crews working overtime, local TV broadcasting doom and gloom all day, felt it would be a good time for me to put in a little extra time surfing my traffic exchanges to build more credits. These things really do work, have a regular schedule daily that I use to send thousands of hits to my websites, and today had time to increase that even more. Made a little game of it today to keep me interested. Now, I usually surf at least 7 up to 10 exchanges at once, using tabs on either Internet Explorer 7.0 or Mozilla Firefox, both work well for this task.

First, I wanted to see how many sites or programs could be found that I had not seen before. Frankly there wasn't that many but there was some new and interesting sites that were promoting a familiar business with new designs and twists. Also found many cases of the same old affiliate sites being advertised, sites that were to slow to load within the time period required and even some sites that we know are nothing but scams and make outrageous claims.

Most of the better Traffic Exchange owners have disallowed any illegal or ponzi schemes that they are aware of. Some have questionable statements and of course sometimes it's a matter of what works for some does not work for all.

During my surfing today, found myself thinking back to when I first started on the Internet and how confusing and frustrating it was to read and try to believe some of the sites that were being shown. It seems today that perhaps for new people just beginning their venture into working from home on the Internet, it has become even more difficult to distinguish between the real and the hype and scams. It's no wonder that people are so skeptical today when you try to get them to understand your system and truly do offer help, they feel you are only feeding hype and don't really believe your sincerity. Can't blame any of you for that.

Example, I have two downline builder programs, one that promotes Success University and uses a couple of traffic tools and exchanges to help promote the page once a person has actually signed up. Now the system I provide is free to use, includes a training site and forum to help members better understand how, what, and when to use the system and what it takes to really be successful with Success University. The page is simple, has all instructions explained without a bunch of hype, yet some are still cautious and don't trust my intentions, hey I understand that, is quite normal these days.

Funny thing is, even if they do sign up as a member, they still have a problem registering in our team forum. Some of course do and benefit from the instructions and benefits of being able to openly discuss concerns and receive a better understanding of what it takes to build a business and income on the Internet. All of this is provided free for members, however the program itself, Success University does have a cost involved as any business online or off will, there are no free ways to make money. There are always free courses, free training, and my favorite, ways of producing free traffic to your sites. With my system and programs there is never a reason or need to invest any money except for the business itself. Even when you try to make people feel comfortable and secure it's still understandable why people are so paranoid with all they've seen and read on the Internet. Hopefully some day the scams and outright lies can be, if not eliminated, at least exposed more openly.

Traffic Exchanges Are a Waste of Time!

The below is an article that I feel relates very much to my last blog post concerning Traffic exchanges and downline builders. Written by Dan Moses, one of the top most respected TE owners with over seven years experience online. See Article below:

Have you ever heard someone say this in a forum or in an email that came across your inbox? I know I have and every time it makes me say to myself... these people don't know what they're talking about.. or do they?

Sure if they're not using them correctly then it is a waste of time for them. They're wasting their time using the TE's to advertise because they don't know how to use them effectively.

On the other hand... they're not a waste of time to many people because they do know how to use them effectively.

Today, I want go into the top 5 ways to use TE's effectively.

1. Start with the end in mind. If you want to provide a product they want or desire to a surfer of a TE then you need to ask yourself what they want?

What do most TE surfers want and desire? Well one things for sure you know they want more traffic. You know they're using the TEs to get more traffic... and you know they're goal is get more people to their sites. I think I said the same thing 3 times. :o)

That's an easy one... so is there a product that you own, promote or can create that would be what they want or desire?

Let's say you come up with a product that will help them surf in half the time they're doing now (that's not cheat software :o). Or a new software tool that will help them manage all their TE accounts for them.

Would that be something they would want or desire? You Bet!

So, that's something you have to keep in mind. Too many people are promoting things in TEs that no one cares to buy or use. That's another reason why promoting TEs in TEs works so well. That's what the surfer is looking for #1... Traffic generating tools or services.

Okay so let's say you have the coolest and newest tool that every surfer has got to have... and they can afford to buy it. Now that's half the battle and you've won that one before you even step onto the battle field.

2. Create a Splash Page that lists the top benefits they want and a catchy graphic that stops them dead in their tracks. Too many people promote long sales pages in the TE's that people just don't have the time to read while they're surfing. Remember there goal while they surf is to generate traffic to their sites.

You have to catch their eye first by putting something in front of them that will stop them dead in their tracks and then get them to click over to your site from the Splash Page. That way you have their undivided attention. Your headline needs to contain a sense of urgency. It must tap into anticipation, desire, curiosity, and other emotional hot buttons. It must have a call to action.
Keep in mind, once they click over to your site... it better be something that interests them or they're gone for good and chances are even if they see your page 1,000 more times they won't ever click it again. :o(

3. Lead capture pages... these still work very well. If you give them enough information to get their curiosity flowing, but not enough for the whole enchilada, then you can get them to fill out your lead capture page for more info, or to download a free product. The secret here is to give them something they would gladly pay for, but they don't have to since you're giving it to them for free (plus that let's you know what they're interested in... and means you can sell similar products to them later).

Now if you've captured their name and email to follow up with them for a sale, then It's best from this point to send them some follow up messages that will drip your sales messages over days and weeks with the ability to buy the product at anytime through out the emails you send them.

How many emails should you set up to go out? That's up to you... if you test the emails and know that on day 3 of the emails 90% of the subscribers buy, then you might not need to keep adding email after email. Set up about 5 and add on if necessary. Keep testing and find out what works or doesn't.

4. Squeeze Pages. This is a combination of both a Splash Page and a Lead Capture Page in one. It gets the viewer to fill out the form and once they do they get redirected to your sales page with a more open mind because they just gave you their name and email for more info.

Then you can send them the follow up emails like the lead capture page does. Just make sure if they buy your product from the sales page that you stop sending them emails especially if after a certain amount of messages you start offering lower prices. You don't want upset customers knowing they could have paid less for the product.

5. The Free Report... this is where you give them access right to your Free Report. This can be great for the skeptics out there. These are the people that have gotten burned from opting into too many email lists and they aren't going to just give up their name and email anymore. They get way too many emails as it is and don't trust anyone.

So, adding a link to your Free Report right from a Splash Page can help these people click over and get more comfortable with you and what you're offering before they have to give out their info. Then after they read the report, give them a way to opt-in for more info.

My suggestion to you is to first get something they want, then second add all three methods to present the info through out the TE's. Then third... test each one and see which generates the highest return on investment.

Okay, now here's the most important tip in getting results from promoting in the TE's.

After setting up a product you believe they will want, and implementing all three advertising methods and sending about 10,000 unique visitors to those pages... if you don't see people opt-in or get a sale... Then Stop! That's it... quit wasting your time. You're right... Traffic Exchanges Are a Waste of Time.

I bet that won't happen! Actually, I've had so much success using the TE's I know that won't happen. And if it does...please let me know and I will take the time to explain why it didn't happen and show you what you did wrong or why it didn't work for you.

Traffic Exchanges, Do They Create Traffic?

This question has been argued by many over the last couple of years by some of the top marketers on the Internet. After reading many discussions concerning Traffic Exchanges in forums and articles across the net, the one thing I find interesting is this.

The general rule is that those arguing against traffic exchanges seem to have a total misunderstanding of how and why one should use them. One thing that should be considered is the audience you have on traffic exchanges. For the most part, they are just like you and me, Internet marketers promoting an affiliate program or trying to sell product of their own.

You have to ask yourself the question, what would interest "you" or what would you like to see advertised that you need or desire. If you're using affiliate sites or links to sell viagra, gifts, recipes, dog biscuits, etc. the response might not be what you expected. In fact selling anything to traffic exchange surfers is not really the right approach to take.

Traffic exchange users are looking for what? They are looking to surf the exchanges to build traffic credits for their own sites. So what does it take to make your site or ad appealing to them? For one thing, they need traffic to their site. They also would be interested in other programs or software to make their job easier, to increase their referral base, or perhaps downline building sites that they can use to enhance their exposure on the Internet.

First let me say that any site rotated on traffic exchanges has to be quick loading, to the point, get the attention, ask for the sign up or curiosity to click the link, and all of this has to be accomplished in less than 5-10 seconds. So placing a full website page with long copy and graphics that takes over 5 seconds to load will not only be ignored but not seen as well.

Using quick loading splash pages that attract attention with two to five words or less that ask for a signup to receive free downloads for instance is one good option for traffic exchanges. Another would be "signup for my free Internet marketing course" and here are the "freebies" you get for simply entering your name and email address. After all building a list of subscribers is certainly one of the most important tasks that any network marketer should strive for.

So to summarize, a quick loading splash page that creates attention and desire to click the link to find out more is certainly the more desirable type page to use in Traffic Exchange advertising. I find that most of the "nay sayers" about traffic exchanges are first either promoting their own slow boring website or an affiliate site that has already been seen thousands of times. I also find that too many graphics, annoying voice, creepy heads, and popups are definitely a turn off to most people.

It has also come to my attention that the same "nay sayers" expect too much for so little. Traffic exchanges do require some time (work) on your part. Surfing for a few minutes each day done properly can create many thousands of hits per week. Expecting results from little work is simply a pipe dream. To create credits on any traffic exchange you need to surf the site, more you surf the more credits you build. You can of course also purchase credits from most exchanges at a reasonable price if time becomes an issue.

Building credits by referring others to the traffic exchanges is the absolute best way to create credits for yourself. The larger your downline, the more they surf, means more credits for you. In some cases referring others to "Pro" or paid type traffic exchanges could also mean small commissions for yourself.

Traffic Exchanges are very simple concepts, you view other peoples sites to get your sites viewed. How much easier could that be? As a proud Traffic Exchange user, I have personally created thousands of hits to various pages and accomplish this on a weekly basis. By sticking to a schedule, surfing almost daily, purchasing some credits, building my downline in traffic exchanges my site traffic increases constantly. Of course when my traffic increases so do my signups, referrals, and sales.

Hint: I use tabbed browsers and surf anywhere from 5 to 10 exchanges at a time. Surfing one site alone can be boring and will certainly not create many credits in my allotted time. I am currently a member of approx 40 traffic exchanges, and a "pro" in most.

In closing would just like to say, proper training in the use of traffic exchanges can make a huge difference in your results. I like to include traffic exchanges in my downline builder pages. Any program that I promote with my downline builder pages also include traffic exchanges to help new team members learn and start immediately to create traffic to their personal sites.

Holiday Excuses

Very sorry for not posting more articles and helpful information as of late.

I of course am using the holidays an an excuse. With the end of the year approaching, holidays, gifts to purchase, travel, and all the other excuses, it has been difficult to sit down and write a decent article of interest. I do promise to continue once the holidays have passed.

Ponzi Schemes Everywhere? Newbies Beware!

The below article was posted in the Conquer Your Niche forum by Josh Anderson and I think it deserves more attention. The article is very important and should be read and heeded by all new marketers looking to start a business on the Internet or offline for that matter. As in my previous blog articles, newsletters and forum, this very important point has been made over and over. There is no free ride, there is no miracle money, no easy money, all businesses require work and effort on your part to achieve success. Please read and heed Josh's post below.

I notice a lot of fairly new warriors posting questions about things like "randomizers," "investments," and other scams. These "newbies" are looking at these programs and their offerings with serious interest and feeling the temptation that comes when promised easy money. I am going to be strait forward and completely honest:

1. When you are getting started online it is hard to hear the legit opportunities because of the multitude of scams and ponzi schemes.

2. Opportunities that offer you fast money by making an "investment" into a "matrix" or "randomizer" or other such Ponzi scheme are almost all illegal.

3. There are so many illegal schemes online that it may seem like very few are exposed and prosecuted by the authorities but this does not make them any more legit.

4. In the US 70% of your revenues must come from the direct sale of goods or services and only 30% can come from the recruitment of other distributors in order for the opportunity to be legal. This is known as the 70/30 rule and is used by the feds when taking on mlm and other opportunities. Otherwise the companies are getting into "ponzi" and "chain" schemes which are federal offenses in the US.

5. "Referral sales" are illegal in all 50 states. A referral sale is where you offer a discount or other value in exchange for "leads" or the names of prospective purchasers (do a search for legal info regarding "referral sales" on Google and you will learn some very interesting facts). 6. A program does not have to pay out in the form of a "pyramid" to qualify as Ponzi.

7. Just because their is a product or service offered as a front does not mean that a program is not Ponzi. Here is a good example:

8. There are many involved in ponzi who will claim that their program "works" and has passed the scrutiny of the FTC... most of them have no clue what they are talking about and are simply subconsciously excusing a lie that they have convinced themselves to ignore. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/doznalrt.htm

9. Self deception is a destructive illness. I got on the internet for the first time in 2001 and began researching internet business. I was stuck by the amount of "investment" and "matrix" opportunities that were available. Many of them were "ground floor" startup opportunities that claimed they were going to sell a product or service once they got off the ground but that they needed a few "investors" to grab "top positions" before they "launched." I found that almost all of them never actually offered a legit product or service and operated as an unabashed and obvious pyramid scheme.

Most sites would disappear within a year and I would see the same founders starting different opportunities with varying "payout" plans all of them Ponzi. I also saw that some of these Ponzi creators spent time posing as "consumer advocates" for those who had lost money in other schemes. These ponzi scammers would lure in victims of other failed ponzi schemes by publishing submitted complaints on their websites in behalf of the victims. They would act as if they were trying to assist the victims in recovering their lost "investments." I would then see these very same "advocates," after building a list of victims sufficiently large enough who trusted them, launch their own ponzi schemes with claims like "everyone gets paid" and "guaranteed not to fail." They would tout themselves as saviors claiming that no one would get hurt and that they were out to help everyone who lost money when other companies failed.

10. A majority... let me say that again a MAJORITY of opportunities I see advertised in safelists are illegal investment schemes. The reason for this is because most people who are attracted to these type of opportunities cannot build a mailing list to market to (the reason is because the mainstream business world immediately sees you as illegit) and they congregate in safe lists in hopes of spreading their opportunity virally. Most members of safe list communities (the one's who spend every day reading and mailing safelists and investing in ponzi) are inexperienced deceived and looking for easy money.

*I know I will get heat for saying that but I also know it is true. There are legit ways to use safe lists but the majority of the opportunities advertised in them are complete garbage.*

11. Light attracts light. Darkness attracts darkness. Scammers attract easy money seekers who have deceived them selves into believing their lies.

12. There are many members of this and other marketing forums making money in illegal investment and ponzi schemes. There are many members of this and other marketing forums loosing money in illegal investment and ponzi schemes.

13. If you align your self with such opportunities (even if you make money) your business will be seen as illegit and your own reputation will be tarnished by those whom you associate with.

Not to long ago dozens of warriors were lured into investing in a software development opportunity run by a well known marketer that was never fully delivered. I settled out of court with that marketer to regain my own investment back after I threatened to bring in the FBI and SEC.

15. It pays to educate your self on the laws that govern your business. I have personally interviewed attorneys, legal experts, authors, and a federal expert witnesse on the subject of mlm, one up referral, and ponzi style compensation programs during my own investigation into the online "money for nothing" phenomenon. http://www.firstgov.gov/Citizen/Topics/Internet_Fraud.shtml

16. You should also read what the SEC has to say about "internet investment" schemes. It may shock you to know that: "...the following companies must file reports with the SEC: All U.S. companies with more than 500 investors and $10 million in net assets;" Companies that fail to do that are in violation of federal laws and many cases send the owners of such companies to prison. The SEC governs most "investment" opportunities and when their hammer falls on a company it is not pretty.

I have written it for the benefit of those who are truly interested in educating themselves on the subject and making educated decisions based on the laws that govern the businesses they are getting involved in.

There are many on the internet and in this forum who will seek to excuse their illegal activities and continue to live in self deception. That is fine. Everyone is entitled to their own decisions and opinions. This post is to provide a powerful education to the multitudes who desperately need it including the newbies who keep posting questions about whether such scams "work" in various marketing forums around the internet.

My Money Tree

The photo I have uploaded here and on most of my sites and forums on the Internet reminds me about the plant in the background of that photo. Called a money tree in layman's terms. I write about this plant only because my Internet business and this plant were both acquired at approximately the same time.

This photo was not chosen because of the plant but is rather a coincidence. Actually it's a bad photo of me :) (after a long day on the golf course) but one that just happens to fit the size that I needed to upload. For those that are not familiar with money trees, a brief description follows.

Money trees - good luck plants, botanical name Pachira, range in height from a few inch petite to seven feet giant, are characteristic of the figure of thick trunks, and thin branches with five big green leaves on the top, like human hands with five fingers. This one actually stands a bit over 6 feet tall and the leaves vary in number. Some branches have as many as seven leaves, while others have 4, 5 or 6. For comparison I'm 6'3" so you see the height of the tree.

Money trees may have their trunks twisted. There are braid designs made of three to five twisted trunks, and a golden cage design made of eight twisted trunks. Mine is braided. Money trees are great gifts for business grand opening, new house purchase, office and home Feng Shui improvement.

You're probably wondering, why I would write about a plant on an Internet Marketing Blog? It's rather a shock to me as well but it is so closely related to my Internet business that I just had to tell someone.

This plant was given to me a bit over 2 years ago at a very rough time in my life with a very bleak financial future. My dearest friend gave me this plant with words of encouragement that went something like this. She said that the plant would bring me good luck if I nurtured it and took the care necessary for it to grow and thrive. She also said that it really didn't need a lot of care, just water thoroughly about twice per month and place it in an area that would receive light sun. She said it also would be nice to just touch and pay attention to it occasionally.

Of course I thanked her, but being of old school didn't put much faith in the lucky portion. Have always believed that everyone makes their own luck, it's not given. Two years ago when she gave me the plant it was about 8 inches tall.

About the same time she gave me the plant, I started searching for a way to make money from home. Looked in newspapers, magazines, and the Internet. Watched late night infomercials as I was always up late worrying about my next move. Saw this infomercial about SMC. Sure most people in the U.S. have seen or heard about it by now. Anyway, thought this might be something I could do since the money needed to start was not so much.

Made the call, jumped into the system, borrowed money to open a shop, built a website, and six months later was worse in debt than when I started. No sales from the website and not enough in the shop to cover rent and expenses.

My money tree was also turning yellow and not adding any new leaves. Looked as if it might not make it. Moved it to a different location, gave it water and went back to the computer to search for directions on how to care for the money tree.

While searching started typing in searches like "make money from home"-"work at home business"-"work at home on the internet" - "internet home business"-"free internet business" instead of "help my money tree" :)

Actually what happened next is history but I had no idea at the time. Came across this site where some guy said he would build me a money making website in approx 24 hours, setup and ready to take orders. But, I had to join something like 5 programs of which most were free to join. I would have to pay for a domain name and hosting account.

Already knew that to have a web presence those two were a must. First thought, this was just too good to be true, so I just bookmarked the site and forgot about it, sounded like b.s. to me!

Kept struggling with the gift shop, trying to invent new sales, working and tweaking my website, of course I really had no knowledge of how to promote a website, was using a site builder that was part of the hosting account. Would take me hours to add one simple item and make it display correctly.

The company that was hosting my site were very helpful with any questions I had. I look back now and see how ridiculous and ignorant I was and wonder how many laughs I must have supplied for the support staff at Host4Profit. I would email them sometimes 2 to 3 times a day because I just didn't get it! Really had no business trying to build a site but was determined it would be my answer to turn my business around.

In the mean time, my money tree was looking a little better but still not healthy. Saw one new leaf starting to grow from a branch and was actually thrilled that at least I hadn't killed the gift my friend had given me.

While trying to learn more about building a website, searched all the FAQ's, on the host account, read all the tutorials, kept reading things that totally confused me. Didn't know the terminology at all so would have to search for the definition of these words. In doing that kept running across this reference to something called the Plug In Profit Site. For some reason this sounded familiar, but just thought I had probably searched the back office of the hosting account so much that it was somehow part of their system.

Was in the process of cleaning out my favorites on the computer one day and there was this link that referred to Plug In Profit Site again. Was no wonder it sounded familiar, had put it there probably a month earlier and forgot about it. Clicked the link and started reading the sales page. On the sales page it made a reference that you would be required to set up a hosting account with, you guessed it, Host4Profit.

Why not, this guy (Stone Evans) looked like a decent guy, plus he lived in Texas, about 300 miles north of me. Already being familiar with Host4Profit, having an account already, it would only cost me an additional $5 to host the website Mr. Stone Evans said he would build for me. At that time the domain name registration was priced at $30, so I took the leap to see what this was all about. It's now only $15.

My first thoughts were at least with the promise of 30 days of training on Internet marketing, I could certainly use the help. Was certainly a bit over whelming at first, all the programs to join, the lessons to be learned, and what my next step was suppose to be. Honestly, after going through the first few days of training, was getting somewhat confused and even a little angry that I would need to purchase certain tools and upgrade in the free programs to really make money. Was thinking, okay this really was b.s. and this guy was just trying to get me to spend more and more money every day.

Even though in the lessons he stated you could do it the free ways, not spend money but it would take longer. Didn't understand that at the time, but did take some of the advice and started promoting my gift website with some of the free methods.

Time period is now around November of 2004, so decided to forget about the Stone Evans site for now and concentrate on trying to make some money during the shopping season. Oh, the money tree was starting to grow and was looking much greener. Had lots of new leaves and more seem to be coming every day. Added a little plant food to see if that would boost the growth even more.

November and December showed some fairly decent sales and profits, but certainly not enough to repair the damage done the previous months in business. The gift website had actually contributed a few sales, but certainly not enough to cover the cost of the site and the advertising that was being done.

After the Christmas season, no business...died, dead, bury it, call the undertaker. Plenty of time on my hands and more sleepless nights to contend with. Went back to the Plug In Profit Site that I now owned and started over on the training in the 30 days to success program. Had already been well over 60 days for me, but what the heck, no pressure here, right? Started reading about search engine optimization, ways to get your website noticed, etc. Downloaded books, reports, read every thing I could find about ways to generate traffic, improve your website, accumulate leads, anything I thought was possible.

Well you guessed it, started getting offers of all this free affiliate programs you could make money with over night...etc.. Make a long story very short, by the time I was finished, had 3, four inch binders filled with programs I didn't even remember joining. Talk about confusion. Was trying to add all of them to my website, both the gift site and the affiliate site set up by Stone Evans. Nothing, nada, no sales, no money, no real hits.

Talk about discouraging, this really did suck. Spent hours, days, weeks, building, adding, reading, and nothing was generated from those efforts. Had also been ignoring the money tree and it was showing the ill effects. Watered it, moved it again to get more light and then for some reason, it hit me. Why couldn't an online business be as simple as growing this puny little money tree. Why was I trying to make it so difficult?

Started rebuilding the gift site, removed all the links, the ugly banners, links to other affiliate programs and uploaded more products, used what little knowledge I had to make the site more search engine friendly. Also started back over the 30 days to success (not for me, more like 90 or 120 now) grabbed some hints on free ways to advertise your site and went to work. Joined the Warrior Forum, which was actually open to me from the beginning but didn't see the benefit.

Started reading what others were posting, some pretty knowledgeable people in that forum. They also had a section for the Plug In Profit Site members as well, what a surprise. Knew it was there, just never cared to take the time to go there.

Saw what others were posting, some of the same questions I had, and yes some were a little negative. Started seeing a pattern though, the negative posts were from those that had only been involved for less than a year for the most part. The remarks they made and the questions they asked made you realize that these were people that had high expectations of making a lot of money quick without really having to do anything themselves or put any money or effort into their business. Being in the corporate world for a number of years you learn to spot the lazy and uninspired.

It struck a nerve, this could also apply to me. Needed to start thinking more positive, work the system as outlined, be patient, learn, listen, read, and most important never give up! The ones that fail are the ones that give up and quit! It really is that simple.

Just like my money tree, it's so simple, give it water, right amount of light and it will flourish.
I'm sure you're probably bored to death by now, so to end this saga, let me just say that if you want to grow your money tree, keep it simple and follow the system, but never get negative or give up! The Plug In Profit Site has changed a little over the last couple of years but the basic system is the same.

Guess the closing statement is this. My money tree is over six feet tall. I've had to increase the size of the pot at least three times.

Working within a Team Structure!

I realize this may be said so often that sometimes it tends to lose it’s real value. “Assisting others to be successful will insure Your Success!”

This is in fact an absolute true statement when working to build a business on the Internet. You may have the best advertising, the most popular website on the net, be able to sign up new members in your downline like no one else. What really happens if you offer no training, no assistance? They quit!

They either don’t understand what it takes to be a success, and they give up without the training or knowledge to proceed. So what do you do? Keep referring more members to your program and continue to lose them daily. That truly is an eventual no win situation for the long term, neither for you nor your new members.

What would you rather have? Ten trained members that understand what it takes and will themselves train others to be successful or 100 members that never really quite grasp the entire concept of marketing and building a successful team? Personally, I’ll take the ten any day.

Building a “Team” and working within a team concept will ensure your success and the success of all your members. True assistance is building a relationship to teach all new recruits first how to get started and build their downline, taking it a step further by teaching them to help their personal membership build their business as well. In this process your “Team” will grow, become strong and reap all that participate the ultimate goal of Success!

Side Note: There are many scripts available for use that assist in building a team structure one of which is James Grandstaff”s Downline Secrets script. I’m sure others are available but this one does a great job at a nominal cost.

Building a downline for your members is and should not be your only task. If you are an experienced marketer why not advertise FOR your members until they have the ability to take hold of the ropes. By offering how, where, and methods you use to advertise, they too will soon grasp the reins and fend for themselves and will truly understand that by your lead in helping them, they too must do the same. Remember the word “duplication” it certainly applies!

Patience . . .
The number one complaint I receive and have dealt with for years has been this . . . "I have been surfing for a few days and have not seen any results!" Now I understand many of us, myself included, were lead to believe that you can make money on the internet at the speed of light. The idea of sitting at home, and watching the checks come rolling in is quite a vision.

When I first got online this is EXACTLY how I thought. And the second week, if I didn't see results I would jump to the next program. I call it slot machine marketing and every pull is going to be the 'winning pull'. So if you have been in business for any amount of time, you know this is not the case.

How long does it take? That is the million-dollar question, and I'm not sure if there is an answer. Success in this business comes in small steps to start, and then grows into something very solid down the road. The most important two things you can do is to use the right tools to get the job done and next is to have patience.

Much discussion has been posted, written, and exaggerated concerning how to truly be successful on the Internet. So much in fact that some are nothing more than hype and out right false statements. Many of these so called facts are written by persons that really have no interest other than personal gain to build a downline they hope will make them money while they sit back and do nothing.

Many books have been “hyped” and sold to reap the benefits for themselves with no true value in actually explaining the necessary steps for success. Most of these so called “secrets to success” are nothing more than books re-hashed from books written long ago that no loner truly apply to the ever changing Internet.

The latest and greatest craze is to offer 100's of books for one low price that you have complete re-sell rights too. Most of these are several years old and only the new Internet home based opportunity seekers will find these of interest. For the most part, these books are offered because they actually no longer have any real value. They have either been outdated by technology or simply are nothing more than advertising in the form of a “tell all” book that really offers nothing new or even specific instructions for persons wanting to learn how to do business on the Internet.

Most of these are offered for nothing more than to capture names and email addresses to be added to lists of potential buyers that can be presented more opportunities in the future. Especially when the next best thing happens to present itself for a quick sale and more money.

Not only are e-books used this way, but also software that presents itself to make you rich if you purchase and use it. Everything from producing traffic to your site, building your downline, getting higher rankings in search engines, automatically producing referrals etc...the list never seems to end.

Most of these e-books and software will also promise great rewards if only you will promote and sell this product to others. Your commission alone will make you an over night success. Does this really work? Of course it does for the person selling the idea, he or she now has thousands of “affiliates” promoting basically their advertising, and linking back to their main site.

So how are you suppose to become successful on the Internet?

First and foremost, nothing is free! Please understand that before you even start. No matter how great your product, advertising said product is a necessary part of any business that expects to attain success. Sure there are some free methods of advertising and some actually do produce. However, as with any business, there is always a cost. Advertising, especially on the Internet is probably the greatest expense incurred.

Work is also required believe it or not. If you have been convinced that putting up a website, adding links to products is all that is necessary, you are in for one huge disappointment. Just a couple of very simple statements:

Don’t advertise?-You will have no customers!
Don’t work your business?-You will have no business!

So now your asking, why is it so attractive for so many. It’s attractive for several reasons. The promise of “free” and the promise of no “work” it’s so easy anyone can do it. Persons that actually fall for that “hype” are among the 97% of persons that never make any money on the Internet. You see this type advertising is to attract the uninformed, the lazy, and the “freebie” seekers that would probably never be successful in any type business.

Being successful on the Internet or otherwise is about learning, about new ideas, about creating a mind set for success. Learning how to be successful is always the first step to success. This of course involves attitude, goals, ideas, innovation, and commitment to attain success. Not realized easily or “over night,” but once put in motion grows rapidly.

Success is attained by setting a goal, learning how to attain that goal, and then committing to reach that achievement goal before you raise the bar and move to the next level. No distractions will phase you until that goal has been reached and accomplished.

Did you know that the saying, "If you help enough people
succeed, you yourself will become successful," is true?

Well, not only is it truth to the fullest, it is one principle
used by the most successful people in the world.

Every person that has become successful has at one
time or another helped someone else with his or
her success. And in the process, those other
people have helped make them even more successful.

Think about it... If you invest in people they will invest
in you. They will also be the most loyal people you will
know…especially in business. When something goes
wrong in your business they will be the first people there
for you. When you need help they will be the first to come
to your aid in any way they can.

Helping others is so important that it's key to your success
with your online business.

Here are 3 steps you can do to start helping other people
with their success online.

1. Be Empathetic

Think back to when you started working your business and
how hard it was to understand the lingo or how you felt when
you first started trying to make money online. What helped
you the most? What was a waste of time? What did you
learn by trial and error that could’ve been made easier if
you’d only had someone to show you the way? What are
some tools you didn’t know about that would’ve been the
most helpful in getting your business off the ground?

2. Make A List

Write down the things you did that helped you learn how to
do different tasks. Don’t forget to include the things you
found that didn't help or proved only to be a waste of time.
Make a list of those dos and don'ts and put them into a
word document, note pad, or on a web page. Be sure to
take your time and perfect the list until they are very easy
to understand and follow.

3. Show It Off

Show your list to people every chance you get…even if you
think they are more knowledgeable than you are. It really
doesn't matter who they are, because if you can help them
in any way, you've begun your path to success.

Exchanging phone numbers is a great way to build relationships
and trust in people, and to find those who are truly interested
in what you have to offer. You can communicate your information
to a lot of people at once on a website, but you can only talk
to one person at a time on the phone. That quality time with one
right person could be the best investment you will ever make.

As time goes on and more people you come into contact with
and are able to help, you will notice that they will start
helping you in return. This could happen in a variety of ways.
They may show you things that they've learned. They might refer more
people to your page or content. Or, they may turn out to be
your most loyal customer.

This can be very easy when you take this one step further and
add affiliate links into your free dos and don'ts list.

For example... If one item on your list is how you have learned
to use an autoresponder system and your success with following
up with people who use it, then make sure you include a link to
that autoresponder service that you use in your content.

There are many terms people use for this kind of marketing.
They might call these free reports, viral e-books, or
mini-reports. The key factor here is that you are honest and
genuine and that you make sure to include any affiliate links
you can for the products and services you use and share with
people on your dos and don'ts list.

If you write it in a manner that is truly helpful to others
(which is what your focus is) they will respond in the way you want.
The extra time you spend creating a quality page with helpful
content and not merely a bunch of links will be well worth the
effort in the long run. The easy path is not necessarily the
best path.

When you're first getting started, all you want to focus on is
the most helpful dos and don'ts list you can write. When
you’ve got it perfected, then add links where it's appropriate.

Here's a personal story on how I was able to pick up hundreds
of dollars worth of products absolutely free and how I met my
mentor that was the key factor in my success.

If you can remember back a few years ago when there was no
real encryption software for PayPal and if you knew how, you
could steal any product online that used their services.

I did something that most people wouldn't do. But, because I
did I built some lasting relationships that were key to my
online success.

What I did was very simple... I went looking for products that
I could steal.

No, I didn't steal them... I just found products I COULD steal
easily if I had chosen to. All I’d have to do was find a
product that used PayPal and look at the source code. If I found the
source code with the PayPal info, I could copy and paste the
download link and voila! I’d have had the product in no time.

However, since I’m such an honest person, instead of stealing
them I emailed the owner and let them know I could steal them
and how. I would say something like this... "I found your
product and wanted it so bad I almost stole it. But instead, I decided
the honest thing to do was to send you an email and let you know
about this security breech in your system." Then, I gave them
details of how I could’ve stolen their product and gave them
ideas for how to make their sites more secure.

Do you know what happened? Every one of those people GAVE
me some of their products for FREE and went on to share with
me how amazed they were that I was so honest and took the
time to help them with their security issues.

Yes, I received close to $1,000 dollars worth of products and
earned the respect of several business leaders, one of which went on to
become my mentor. She taught me how to build web pages, write
ad-copy, create e-books, and many more things that I needed to
become successful online. We even did some Joint Ventures and
created many online programs I still own and operate today.

In conclusion:

What I shared above is only scratching the surface of all the
ways to help people. Try to put yourself in their shoes and follow
the Golden Rule at all times... "Do unto others as you would have
them do unto you".

Find any way you can to invest in people and their success and
by doing so you will become successful.

What does it "really" take to be Successful on the Internet or for that matter any home based business? Let's review some hard FACTS!

1. Desire & Determination?
2. Product with high demand for the masses?
3. Knowledge to Market your product?
4. Multiple streams of Income?
5. Computer & Internet Connection?
6. Ability to distinguish between "scams" vs "real businesses?"

What if I told you that even with all of the above you could still fail, (98% do) never make one single dime of profit on the Internet? What if I told you that everything you need you already have? That my friend is a TRUE fact! You do have everything you need, because all you really need is "you!" Trouble is that most of us need help in reaching our full potential, in the exploration of our own body, mind, and soul. The human mind is a powerful apparatus, never truly tested to the limits.

How many times have you gotten so excited about something that you could barely sleep, eat, or function normally? Then again, how many times has that feeling simply faded into thin air? Was it doubt, disappointment, lack of confidence, or some other negative that crept into your mind? We are taught to doubt ourselves, have negative feelings, ask questions of ourselves. That is totally normal. However it will not allow you to stand out above the crowd or be truly successful.

Confidence, Confidence, Confidence, is the one thing in common with all successful men and women. Confidence in their knowledge. Confidence in their abilities. Successful, confident, positive individuals are happy with themselves, satisfied with their surroundings. People enjoy being near them. They have magnetic personalities, they attract others and flood their entire area with confidence and positive thinking. Think for a minute, had you rather be in the company of a negative person or one that has confidence? Negative people bring you down, depress you, cause doubt in your own abilities. Positive people raise you up, make you feel better, give you more confidence. Both are like viral diseases, they spread quickly to the weak and uninformed.

Not all "millionaires" are successful. Not all successful people are millionaires. Money alone does not mean success. Perhaps some inherited their riches, some just achieved their riches with blind luck. One thing you can be sure of is that all self made millionaires that achieved success had confidence and a positive attitude. They think like "millionaires" even when the bank account is empty. Do you want to wait for an inheritance, luck, or had you rather start thinking positive, use your "God given abilities" and build your own success story? Confidence not only builds your bank account, but also improves health both mind and body. Both are necessary for absolute positive unbending confidence!

How do you attain this attitude? "Knowledge is Power" but knowledge not used is wasted. However knowledge will give you confidence to achieve any goal you set for yourself if you remain committed and positive! Knowledge can be acquired, so can confidence and a positive attitude. You and your commitment is all that is required.

If you're reading this, you have probably tried to make money on the Internet, tried to be successful without really knowing how or where to start. You have probably purchased "E-Books," read articles, listened to hype about the one and only "big secret" to success. You might have even spent a small fortune gathering all this information. Hey, I have many of those same books, books that have been rehashed, rewritten, reworded, but basically all have one goal. That goal being money in the pocket of the author and basically an advertisement to join his program or buy more back end products "new improved", "just released."

Tip of the Day: Do not join a "just launched" opportunity, or one with product "coming soon" or one with unrealistic "get rich quick" hype, or one that promises that you "cannot fail" or one that promises you the expensive packet you will get is the only "secret you will ever need." B... S... Believe me, I fell for that in the beginning and it darn near broke me. I didn't have the knowledge to even begin, much less be successful.

Give me a break.... You might have actually picked up a few things that can be used to a small degree. Don't buy any more of that crap. Most of what you might be looking for, I have. I'll send it to you free if it doesn't violate any copyright issues.

In fact I have two books that will probably contain more information than all the books you have purchased combined, and they are both yours free. Even though they are leaning toward promotion, they still have useful valuable info, especially if you're just getting started.

Now back to the subject matter. With knowledge, you attain confidence, with knowledge you will know the difference between "scam" and "realistic." First and foremost you need the knowledge to improve your understanding of yourself, your abilities, attitude adjustments necessary, etc... It is not a good idea to start jumping into this business without that knowledge and power. If you truly want success and the freedom it brings, learn first!
