The Biggest "Secret" - Building your LIST! Please understand this page is about building leads the correct way. Actually it's more about building customers, friends, and partners. What you are about to read may not be what you want to hear, unless of course you want the facts and can handle the Truth. You will be provided here with what some call the big "secrets" about Internet marketing success, of course they will charge you for the information and still leave you hanging without true direction on what you should really work toward. If you have been on the Internet at all searching for ways and means to make that extra money, and working toward your own home business, being your own boss and have total and complete control of your success, then you have seen the outrageous ads. Ads promoting programs that lead you to instant wealth, making xx amount of money in xx amount of time guaranteed. They tell you it's free to join, success is guaranteed and you cannot fail. Free finally turns into a monthly fee to upgrade which in turn leads to another better upgrade which leads to you forking out lots of hard earned money, a year later you have not made a single sale. All you've done so far is put money in the pockets of your up line. The program itself may actually be very good. Only problem is you haven't gone through the learning curve yet to know how to promote, how to build customers and make sales. Oh, you'll be told it's "easy" and "anyone can do it", "just look at what this guy did and if he can do it, anyone can." Well my friend that is pure B.S., hype, or whatever else you want to call it. There truly is a learning curve, a process you have to learn that takes time, effort and money. If you're just starting your home business and believe it can happen over night without these elements, you are in for a very big disappointment. Why is the failure rate so high? Many believe the "hype" try out the opportunity, don't put any effort, spend no time working, stay a "free" member and have absolutely the same results---nothing, zero, nada, zilch! Let's use an example here. You walk up to a complete stranger on the street, hit him or her with the same "hype" and b.s. you find in these ads. How many sales do you really think you are going to make this way. People are very skeptical, have been exposed to so many scams and con games that you would probably be laughed at or at best completely ignored. Walking away they would probably be muttering something like, "What kind of idiot does he think I am?" Same thing applies on the Internet but is multiplied. How many offers per day do you get to make money quick, overnight without any effort? Buy this product, it'll make you rich, look younger, feel better, run faster, loose weight, get you out of debt, list never ends. Plain and simple, it's called spam. No wonder there are so many laws now related to spam and unethical email claims. Want to see what I'm talking about, just join some of the so called "safelists", Yahoo groups, etc. see how many emails you start receiving. All promoting their own product and programs. Of course you joined to promote your business but guess what, nobody reads these emails, they all get placed in bulk email or get spam filtered. How many do you read? None, much easier to delete the whole folder, right? In other words, spamming is illegal and does not work. Many of the "spammers" have software to harvest emails either to sell to others or promote their own "hype." It's no wonder that most ISP's have developed spam blockers to keep this junk out of your inbox. Sometimes it even blocks legitimate email you want to receive. If you want to receive a newsletter, ezine, or some training courses, best thing to do is put the person or companies name and email address into your allowed or permission folder. Yes, I too have written a newsletter titled "Truth Be Told" so if you sign up to receive it, be sure and give me permission to send it to you. In the above paragraph, did you happen to comprehend the word "permission?" If you did, you now know the big well kept "secret" that no one will tell you without a fee. It's all about building your "LIST", people that are actually interested in what you have to say or product you want to sell. People that have given you "permission" to send them information. The "list" can also be described as your customer base, they trust you, believe in your product, your judgment, your professionalism and most of all your honesty. Not only your customer but eventually your friend or partner especially on the Internet. When we speak of the "list" we are not talking about just leads, we're speaking of persons that actually are interested in you, your product, opportunity, and read the information you provide. These are people that trust you, have gotten to know your product, your information, and opted to hear more from you. Now, when I say the "list", I mean your "own list." Let me explain. Your surfing on the Internet, see this free program to join, looks easy, no cost and so why not give it a try. You're told to place ads, purchase leads, whatever the opportunity suggests. Beware, this may actually not be your list at all, even though you have paid for it. You may not even be provided with the contact information of your list. For whatever technical excuse, the program gives they cannot divulge the contact information to you? Guess what, it's not your list at all, but one you have paid for, worked for, but still doesn't belong to you. You get discouraged with the opportunity, make no sales, get no hits to your affiliate site so you quit. Guess who has your list now? Internet marketers must build their own list of customers, prospects, or leads. When I first started Internet marketing, I was told the money is in "the List" or just do what I did and you will be successful. Okay, how do you build a list, and what did you do? Answer was simple. "Send ads to your list. I did and made $20,000 in 48 hours." Huh? What? I have no list and don't have a clue as to how to accumulate and build one. Answer: "Well, you can purchase my e-book for xx amount of dollars that will reveal all the secrets." You would be surprised how many crappy e-books I purchased all saying really the same old B.S. Books that have been circulated for years that maybe 10 years ago had some merit but not now, times have changed and so has the Internet. One thing that has not changed is this fact "money is in the List." Building the list however is the time consuming part and is the "process" and "learning curve" mentioned at the beginning of this article. Example: you had an active list, found a real opportunity, did your research and felt that the potential was real. You then send out the information to your list and "wow" like the example above you made a ton of money in a very short time. The correct and legitimate way, I might add. The person who has an active list of his own will make money! He who has not gone through the process of building a list will not!
So how do you build a list? Do not place ads with hype and offers of something free just to get people to sign up to receive your information. If you offer free stuff, many are only signing up to get it and are not the least bit interested in what you have to say or what product you are promoting or opportunity you have. Do not purchase lead packages from companies you have not researched and validated. Ones that can provide true leads for your product or information only. Ask questions, how do you create leads, how old are they, do you offer "free stuff" to entice people to divulge their contact information, and do you sell these leads to other marketers? Are they double opt in? (More on that later) Okay let's now talk about some ways to create a real list, people that have legitimately given you "permission" to send your information. Be honest! Place your ads with integrity, honestly divulging the real information or product you have to offer. Place your ads on legitimate sites that can produce enough traffic to generate lead prospects. Place your ads on sites that have areas related to your product or service. Write a newsletter or ezine, place a script on your site where people can sign up to receive it. Again, be honest about what it contains, no hype or b. s. Getting people to your site is another issue which I will discuss on our traffic page. The use of traffic exchanges, search engines and other methods. Building your lists requires several things from you. It requires a "plan", it requires perseverance, patience, money and time. If you think it can be done over night, believe in the "get rich quick" for free theory you probably are not a good candidate for Internet marketing. This is not meant to be rude or arrogant. The true facts sometimes may seem that way but aren't. Facts are that it is estimated 98% of home business entrepreneurs fail. They fail because they do not possess the patience, perseverance, have a plan, and believe the hype that all can be done for free. Many join affiliate programs for free, never actually do anything with it, blame the program for their failures and either change or just give up and quit. All business opportunities are related, be it Internet or brick and mortar. Related in the fact that all do require work, planning, money, fortitude, learning, study, and will power to complete the process until success it realized. Most importantly it requires a customer base that believes in you first and your product second. Let's be honest not all people possess these qualities and that's okay, doesn't make them a bad person. Ever hear the cliché "Rome wasn't built over night", well it certainly applies here as well. Building your list will not happen over night. Building your list will however be very rewarding in time. Building your list is the most important thing an Internet marketer can do. That list however can be lost if you don't remain honest and above reproach in your actions and recommendations. It is very hard to create a customer, but very easy to lose them. It is hoped by now that you realize the importance of building your list and just maybe you have gotten some ideas oh how to accomplish this goal. Next step is managing your list. It would be very difficult to do this manually with a normal email account through your internet ISP. Almost impossible to achieve the number of customers you would need to be successful. Managing your list is most commonly done with an Autoresponder. An autoresponder can not only capture your leads (double opt in-a must) but organize the list and allow you to stay in contact with thousands easily. Sales are not made with the first contact made but more like the third to seventh. If you publish a newsletter or ezine, this can be set up to automatically send at pre-determined times and intervals. Choosing a reputable autoresponder is a must! They must adhere strictly to spam laws, be able to deliver your emails successfully, have top performing servers with back up, and be willing to defend you with important information in case of a spam complaint. They must be professional, honest, and helpful when needed for assistance. Get a Free Autoresponder here...
