As you know, starting out on the Internet is not an easy or defined task. First response you have is creating a website. Not only creating a site but then learning to build, create traffic, find the right content and get indexed by the search engines. Unless you’re already an expert in these fields there is an enormous learning curve that takes time, effort, trial & error, which leads to total and complete frustration. Where do you advertise, how do you get your product or service in front of customers? How do you then turn that traffic and advertising to actual profits?

Do you have your own product or service to sell? Do you become a referrer of others products? Where do you find the best and most profitable products for the best return on your investment be it drop ship, or affiliate referral programs?

Many affiliate programs offer even greater profit potential by building a downline, i.e., referring others to work with you in the same program. Administrators of the affiliate programs pay you a certain percentage of the sales made by the affiliates you sign up under you. This can vary greatly in the percentage, depth, and variations offered. Affiliate marketing is so popular because of low investment, and perceived ease that thousands try, 96% fail!

Simple answer is most just quit from lack of accomplishment. Frustration happens due to high expectations from reading the hype and marketing ads. When you don't make say $10,000 or whatever the ad says in your first month, you get disappointed. Blame it on the program, it's a scam or just doesn't work. I'll just quit. So easy to quit and place the blame on everything but yourself.

All of these reasons are due mainly from "high expectations" promised with the super hype being projected!

Failure rates are due mainly to lack of knowledge. Knowledge of how to market affiliate products, where to advertise, how to build leads, down lines, and even the best products to choose. Do you need a Website? Do you strictly market with email, snail mail, flyers, postcards, newspaper or magazine advertising?

Oh, so many questions. All of these methods require leads, prospects that can be turned into loyal customers. Of course yours and my preferred method is the Internet, so much easier. We do all our work from the comfort of our home and work at our own preferred pace.

Biggest Misconception!

It’s so easy, just send out an email, build a website, and refer others to your affiliate program and make thousands, maybe millions overnight. The "Get Rich Quick" scheme that we all would like to believe and actually convince ourselves it's easy and will happen just that way.

First, a few facts. The ones that are lucky enough to make a thousand dollars in their first six months are the exception, not the norm. Facts are that successful affiliate marketers spend many long, hard, and tedious hours to first design a plan and implement it. Did you notice I used the word "work"? I have never worked longer hours at any job than when I started my own home business. But you see, I don't mind the work, it pays me directly.

Most don’t really start to show a good return on investment until their two-year learning curve has been achieved. In other words a "real" commitment has been made and stuck with! There are ways to shorten this time period, but you still need to study and learn the concepts, methods and tools needed to reach your ultimate goal. Okay, so you’ve chosen affiliate marketing as your prime interest and believe that is the easiest and least expensive means to start making some extra money for yourself and family. Perhaps even someday working from your home entirely and become your own boss.

Why not, it is entirely possible and can be very profitable and rewarding. If you’ve made this decision, LEARN, PLAN, COMMIT, EARN! I call this my LPCE program and keep in mind the steps should be taken in just that order. Learn first! There have been so many books, training courses, tapes, cd’s, and seminars on this subject that it boggles the mind.

You could probably spend thousands of dollars on this information alone, and still not fully understand the entire concept and methods for success. Many are just re-hashed informational pieces that repeat themselves from one to the next. Many will promise you riches over night if only you will purchase this book, training course, or take my personal mentor program.

Yes, many do have valuable information. Many do offer great ideas and training worth every dollar spent, however most do not give you a step by step method of achieving your goals. They give you a concept, idea, or demonstrate their methods. If they have truly been successful, then duplicating their methods will pay off. Not exact copying, but learning to think up new ideas using your knowledge of what worked for some one else.

You need to be different, have a different approach, a different way of approaching customers and reaching prospects. The most successful affiliate marketers do not copy others, but simply learn from them, use different ideas derived from research on many successful affiliates. Learn from the successful, piece together your own ideas, mix and match, and set your plan in motion. You do not need a Master’s degree or even have to be highly educated, just common sense, motivation and a plan. Look around, you’ll see many "highly educated derelicts".

Plan, the second step in my LPCE approach. Once you have a good feel of how affiliate marketing is successfully achieved, PLANNING is the next very important step. Those who fail to plan WILL FAIL!

Gather all you’ve learned, lay it out on your dining room table, like a puzzle, start putting the pieces together. Go with your "gut" feeling on the best ideas and methods for YOU! Are they attainable, do you know enough to begin your venture?

Set your goals higher than you’re accustomed too. You will absolutely be amazed at how much you have learned and the confidence achieved in putting your plan in action. Read it, learn from it, reread again, print it out and keep for reference.

Commit

Third step in LPCE, commit to your plan, believe in your knowledge, and take action without hesitation or remorse. Without commitment, the learning and planning stages are lost. Don’t be side tracked by others with promises of a better way, quicker riches and easier methods.

Stay committed with your eyes wide open, but with your mind straight forward. Will you make mistakes? Probably, only human nature. Will you learn from those mistakes? You Better!

Will it be easy to stay committed? No, nothing worth anything is easy, just remember your goals, keep learning, planning, and make tweaks to your plan as needed. Never ever give up, your commitment is of utmost importance and nothing will be achieved without it.

Without the support of family and friends your commitment will really be tested. "Nay sayers" will come at you from all directions. If that happens to you, showing them your first check might be the only way to turn them into supporters.

Earn, the final most joyous of the four processes. Realizing a profit is why you started in the first place. Once profits begin, stay wise and re-invest in your business first. Look for other possible avenues to realize even more profits.

Don’t get silly at the first sign of cash coming in and splurge on frivolous and inappropriate and unnecessary purchases. Keep in mind the Internet changes quickly, and you will need more than a single avenue of revenue.

Probably tired of hearing it, but "Multiple Streams of Income" is a must. To coin an old phrase, "Don’t Put all Your Eggs in One Basket". Don't be fooled by promises of everything being free. True fact, it is very inexpensive to do affiliate marketing on the Internet, but it is not FREE! Compared to normal brick and mortar businesses, it is inexpensive!

Affiliate marketing is actually  fun, rewarding, and will give you a sense of accomplishment never realized before. Owning your own business and working within your own guidelines of time and effort is what affiliate marketing is about.

Just think, your own business to operate any way you wish. Success is totally in your hands, plus  do it all from home with a computer and Internet connection. You have no limitations.
